To ensure that all data within either the whole or part of a company is captured at a single moment in time, DigiFor provides a Data 'Snapshot' service. This can be most useful in a number of situations, for example:
During due diligence to ensure that all data is captured for examination. |
Around the time of a takeover or merger to ensure that potentially disgruntled employees don't 'lose' important data. |
During legislation compliance investigations - for example, when UK companies are subject to Sarbanes-Oxley in the USA. |
As a mechanism for backing up an enterprise if no backups have been done before. |
Although most data could be captured using normal backup procedures, a forensic data image 'snapshot' captures everything. This includes data visible to the user, invisible data, deleted data, deleted files, data in swap files, slack space, etc. The advantage is that a data snapshot shows not only what is current but also, in many cases, what has happened and when.
